Actress Sethulakshmi is a wonder happening in Mollywood. This actress achieved fame at the age of seventy, which is a very rare happening in Indian cinema. She was a popular theater artist, and she made a foray into films because of her son’s illness. Her husband, Arjunan, is a make-up artist, and she is currently surviving with her four children. Her one son and three daughters were also part of the theater. While two daughters left theater work after they got married, her son, Kishore and another daughter, Lakshmi are still active in the theater industry. His son was ailing with a kidney problem, and therefore, she decided to act in movies only for ailing her son Kishore, who was a mimicry artist in Malayalam movies. However, that is not all that was done by actress Sethulakshmi.

She made her debut in Mollywood with TV serial ‘Suryodayam’, which was aired on Doordarshan in 2006. The serial was directed by Balanchandra Menon. After she had been spotted in the serial, she got the offer to act in movies. However, these films did no wonder to her career. She only came to the spotlight with a movie named ‘Left Right Left’ and also with K.G.George’s movie ‘Ee Kanni Koodi’.

However, it is for her role in M. Renjith’s ‘Left Right Left’ (2013) that she created a craze for a screen-mother role in the mind of the audience. She played the role of the mother of actor Indrajith in this movie. She then acted in another movie called, ‘How Old Are You,' which is a 2014 Malayalam drama and was regarded as Manju Warrier's comeback movie. Manju was acting in a film after a 14-year sabbatical. The film flopped, but her acting went noticed. This film was a remake of Jyothika’s starrer ‘36 Vayadhanile’.
