Kumarsen Samarth was a film director from India. He was from a Marathi CKP family. His affinity for Marathi prompted him to helm some outstanding Marathi/Hindi films such as Nal Damyanti and Rupaye ki Kahani (1948). His biggest hit was the 1955 Marathi film Shirdi Che Saibaba, which was based on the life of the same-named 19th-century holy man. He returned to India after studying cinematography in Germany. He married Shobhna Samarth Shobhna Samarth whose birth name was Saroj Shilotr >> Read More... , an ambitious actress, who was a distant cousin. They agreed to marry on the condition that she be permitted to continue acting. Nutan and Tanuja, two notable cinema actresses, were among their four children. He and his wife even collaborated on some films. Kumarsen and Shobhana parted amicably after fourteen years of marriage, but they never divorced. Shobhana moved in with Bollywood star Motilal after they separated. Kumarsen passed away in his mid-seventies.
