Asha Potdar is a talented actress from the Marathi film industry. Her birth date is 21 August 1939. Her birthplace is Bangalore, Karnataka. Her father worked as a film distributor in Bengaluru. She moved to Mumbai for higher studies. She was fond of dancing since childhood and learned dance from Pt. Parvatikumar Chandrashekhar Pille. She has performed in various national and international shows. During college, she performed in the Marathi drama Ammaldar, directed by Ramakant Deshpande. After that, she performed in various dramas and films. Her famous dramas are Naro Va Kunjaro by Aatmaram Bhende, Zopi Gelela Jaga Zala, Dinuchaya Sasubai Radhabai, Mate Tula Kay Havay by Nanasaheb Fatak, a translation of Rabindranath Tagore play Visarjan and many more.

Asha debuted in cinema with the movie Prem Andhal Asta with Ramesh Dev, produced by N. B Kamat released in 1962. Asha also received the Best Actress Award for this movie. Her other notable films are Vavtal in 1965, Swapn Tech Lochani in 1967, Preet Shikra Mala in 1968, Ratr Vadali Kalokhachi in 1969, Donhi Gharcha Pahuna in 1971, Tithe Nandate Laxmi in 1971, Mala Dev Bhetala in 1971, Devakinandan Gopala in 1977, Tumchi Khushi Hach Maza Sauda in 1977, Mama Bhache in 1979, Bilaji in 1986 and many more. She won awards for her films like Vavtal, Devakinandan Gopala, Donhi Gharcha Pahuna, and Swapn Tech Lochani. She also worked in the Hindi films and serials. One of her Hindi films is Manchali.
