Shalmali Sukthankar is a singer from the Marathi industry. She participated in the prestigious show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs, a very famous reality show on Zee Marathi, in 2009. As a school student, she wasn't into music. Her song Chandoba went viral. When asking about the song, Shalmali quoted, "It is a soulful song telling the story of a young man who is forced to keep his old mother in an old age home because of his wife. It tells you the mindset of that person who is in a complete mess right now."
She started her music journey from the age of 5 by learning from Dr. Vaijayanti Joshi. She was selected in the first round of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs and was one of the top six contestants. The show completely changed the mindset of the young singer. She was ready to transfer her hobby to a full-time profession. Her passion was shaping into something big by the norms. After school, she shifted to the Arts stream at Ramnarian Ruia College, Mumbai. She took singing lessons from Varsha Bhave Varsha Bhave received her love of music from her g >> Read More... , who coached her during Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. She soon got her first break as a playback singer in a Marathi movie Hasle Mani Chandane.
