Nischal Basnet is a famous Nepali actor, writer, director, and playback singer. He was born on 17th January 1981 in Birtamod, Jhapa, Nepal. His parents are Amrita Basnet and Indra Basnet. He has two siblings, Nisha Basnet Nilima Basnet. He did his primary schooling in Jhapa and completed his higher secondary schooling in Mussoorie, India. During college, he participated in many sports events. After his college, he went to Australia for further education, where he pursued a chef course for two years but couldn't complete it due to the shutting down of that college. He returned to Nepal thinking of making a career in the Nepali film industry as a director.
He joined Oscar International College for a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies. He debuted as a film director with the crime thriller Loot. Other films he has directed are dark comedy and Talakjung vs. Tulke. He has acted in Uma and Kabaddi.
