Saswat Joshi

Saswat Joshi is a famous Indian classical dancer. He is a performer of a cultural dance form known as Odissi. He was born on 12 July 1984 in Titlagarh, Odisha. Saswat started to learn dance at a very young age. He was just five when he started to learn dance under Guru Prasanta Patnaik and Shantanu Behera. He attended Chandigarh University to pursue Visharad in his respective art form. He pursued the degree with the help of the scholarship provided to him by the Indian Ministry of Culture. He started his professional dance training when he was 16, in 2000. He learned under Guru Padma Shri Kumkum Mohanty. He has received the Sangeet Ratna award from Rabindra Bharati University.

Saswat Joshi has taken professional training in his respective dance style, Odissi. He gives lectures and demonstrations of Odissi in various universities across the world.  He also performed at the Musee Guimet in Paris in 2012. Not only in India, he has also performed many times in foreign countries like Italy, France, Hungary, Finland, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand.  Saswat Joshi has performed in the production, I Have a Dream. While performing in the event at Palermo City. He shared the stage with famous international dancers like Carla Fracci, Luciana Savignamo, Guiseppe Picone, and Beppe Menagati. 

He has also choreographed in various Hindi films of Bollywood. One of his known films are Koun Kitney Pani Mein in 2012. He has given consultancy in choreography for various other films. Saswat Joshi is the founder of the Lasyakala Institute of Performing Arts.
