A Psychotherapist is the person who helps people suffering from any mental health problems through several therapies and techniques, instead of using drugs or other physical treatments. They usually encourage people to talk about their past experiences to be able to explore their emotional or mental problems. They conduct a set of individual sessions, which usually last for 30-minutes to an hour in a day. The client needs to build a trust with the Psychotherapist so he or she can talk and explore about their feelings as a part of the therapy/treatment.
Psychotherapists are often referred to as mental health professionals. They are initially trained as physicians and they can prescribe medical prescriptions. During psychotherapy, they are expected and bound legally to respect the confidentiality of their client’s condition, since they are normally discussing sensitive and personal issues during their sessions.
