Ravi Varman

Ravi was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. By profession, he is a cinematographer. Also, he penned the script and directed one movie. He has got some nominations and awards for his brilliant works. With a connection to the South Indian movie industry, he also has worked in Bollywood, and his work won acclamation. His great zeal for literature helped him to create a magazine (online) named Yavarum Kelir. His interest in photography is linked to the death of his mother, who he lost at a very young age.

He grew up watching movies, but he never thought that he will make his career in the film industry. Ravi has been a part of various languages movies like Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English. He has done some TV commercials, albums and short films.

For the movie ‘Barfi’, he got four awards and one for ‘Goliyo Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’. His work got noticed in ‘Anniyan’, as he got applause for this movie. Ravi Varman is an Indian cinematographer and director, who works in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi films. He began his journey with a Malayalam film. He is also known for his writings, which has attracted the audience’s attention for his various works. He has also worked with a music video for a song named ‘Bird Flu’. Recently, he made his directorial debut with the film, Moscowin Cauvery. Apart from this, he has worked in several short films, music albums and television commercials.

Ravi Varman, born in a village near Thanjavur, a town in South India, developed an interest in photography at a very young age when he went to the studio to enlarge a picture of his mother, who passed away at that time. He slowly developed a passion for movies as he grew up. When he was very young, as his parents were not there, he felt very lonely. Depression increased and it led him to a point, which made him decide to commit suicide. But he got arrested for this. He then came to Chennai to change his life.
