P Arokiyadoss

P. Arokiyados is a Tamil movie screenwriter and director. He was born in Chennai on January 1, 1983.  His career as a director began in the year 2013. Before making his debut as a director, he was an assistant director to Gautham Vasudev Menon. He rolled out his first movie ’49-0’ which released in 2015.

It took him two years to complete the movie. He even wrote the screenplay for the movie. While making the movie, he had comedy actor Goundamani in the lead role. When the film released in theatres, the film got helpful reviews from critics and masses even.

The film was a political satire drama which had shown the human sufferings due to nexus between corporates and politician. Since Goundamani was given a lead role to play, there had to be a comic touch into the film. The director’s selection for comedian-actor Goundamani proved to be right. 

Based on the budget of Rs 1.2 crore, the film went to fetch Rs. 25 crores at the box office. Since the budget was small, the director did not pay much attention to songs, music or even visual aspects of the movie. The director paid attention in the content of the film and he focused on the lead character and had given more prominence to the social aspects of the movie and tried his hard to get attention for his simple craft.

The director also introduced many unknown faces who played the role of villagers and hence there could not be much impact from the other cast of the movie. The film was carried on the shoulder of Gondamani. This fetched the film huge popularity as it had commercial elements like comedy and some melodrama. After this one movie, one does not know much about P. Arokiyadoss.
