Vedham Puthithu Kannan

Vedham Pudhithu Kannan is a Kollywood director, writer and producer. He entered the Tamil cine industry with his story Subha Muhurtham, directed by Raghu and produced underIndralayam. His work following Subha Muhurtam, was a theatre drama named Jaathigal Illaiyadi Pappa. It was adopted into the film Vedham Pudhithu, directed by Bharathiraaja. As a child, Kannan had won in district-level writing competitions. Throughout his career, veteran directors like Bharathiraja, S.P.Muthuraman and K. Balachander mentored him. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Dialogue Writer- Kalaimamani. He also received the Mylapore academy award for lifetime achievement. Siva, Pagalil Pournami, and Kaaval Geetham (1992) are projects that established Kannan as a prominent writer in the Tamil film Industry.

He shortly returned to stage plays with T.V Vardarajan and his troupe- united visuals. With their help he staged 10 plays in the span of 7 years. He also penned many TV serials like Nimmadhi Ungal Choice II & III, Jannal Marabu Kavithaigaland Sahana. He also wrote the script for Anni which was directed by Samuthirakani and Akka- a Telugu film, among others.In 2006, he widened his horizons and Kannan became a producer under the Ezhuthupattarai with his directorial debut film Amirtham.
