DJ Vijay Chawla is a young, exuberant DJ of modern India. Initiating his career of Disco-jockeying from Chennai, Vijay has managed to take the whole country in awe with his uncanny ear for music and his incredible record spinning skills. Born in 1987, this DJ is currently one of the country’s most famous and talented ones.

29-year old Vijay first started playing at parties and small gatherings. Having no formal background in music, Vijay drives by his passion and good listening ability in his field. He made his in-house DJ debut by playing music at “My Bar” in Chennai. However, his rise to stardom started with his debut at the bar “Bike and Barrel”. He joined the joint in 2003 and was the in-house DJ for a year. In 2004, Vijay took the risky decision of moving to another bar called “Speed.” Although many questioned his decision of moving, it proved to be a turning point in his musical career. With his amazing musical abilities, he turned the pub into a major party place with his regular listeners frequenting the place every week. Through his 5-year long span at “Bike and Barrel”, Vijay managed to carve a special place for himself in the hearts of music lovers as well as in the realm of jockeying.

According to this musician, being a DJ isn’t just about crunching out party music, but involves the broader aspects of networking, research and staying updated with the global music trends. One of the first and most significant achievements of Vijay was breaking the myth that EDM (Electronic Dance Music) was limited to a western creation. His prime focus has always been to create new music for the tune lovers by mixing and recreating. With a specialty in Techno and Deep House Music, Vijay also focuses on playing progressive, minimal and electronic music. Vijay also received a break in Kollywood when he was asked to remix the theme track for the movie “VA Quarter Cutting”. The track is an tempo Club mix titled “The Quarter song”. Vijay has various other accomplishments listed in his name. He was titled the “Most Stylish DJ” at the 2010 “Globus Style Awards”. He was also the first runner-up in the “Beat Port Cocoon Rix Festival” (One of the most acclaimed DJ festivals of Germany). Further, he reached the top-6 in the Nadia Ali Song Remix Competition at the 2010 Sunburn Festival.

Vijay has ventured into various spheres of the musical world.
