Madhumitha is a south Indian actress who predominantly acted in Tamil and Telugu films only since her debut in 2002. When she was pursuing her studies, it was director Muppalaneni Shiva who had spotted her during a college cultural programme, and had signed her in a film ‘Sandhade Sandhadi’ which was a hit.

Initially, she played supporting roles in Telugu film and later got chances to play a few lead roles. During her struggling days, she did many supporting roles in a couple of Telugu films. She then got commenced to the Tamil film industry by R. Parthiban in his film Kudaikul Mazhai (2004), enacting the leading role and changing her screen name to Madhumitha, named after her character on screen.
