Srividya Shankar

Srividya Shankar is a prominent personality in the Tamil Television Industry (TTI). She works as a newsreader in Kalaignar TV and has acted in several serials for various TV networks.She debuted as an actress in K.Balachander's television soap “Sahana" which aired on Jaya TV.Balachander had spotted her reading new son of the TVchannels and decided to cast her.

Srividya was apprehensive about juggling with both her commitments but since Balachander was such a great director she decided to give acting a try. She says that working with Balachander was a magical experience and fondly remembers it. Since then she has worked on numerous shows which has been aired on various television channels.

Some of her famous soaps include Darling Darling(Zee TV),whereshe played the role of the protagonist’s mother, Valli (Sun TV), where she played the role of Renuka Deviand Sumangali(Sun TV) where she played the role of Nagamma. She has worked with many prominent television actors such as Ramji, Ilavarsan, Vincent Ashokan. Srividya is a trained classical dancer aswell.

Srividya Shankar was born on 1st January1970. She grew up in Cuddalore but had come to Chennai for her higher studies. She has done her Masters in Psychology(M.Sc.) specializing in Cognitive Psychology from Pachaiyappa’s College. She currently resides in Chennai with her husband, Shankar, who works for an MNC and her two children. She continues to dabble in both news reading as well as acting.
