A.M Rathnam is a famous name in the South Indian film industry as he has served it for over a couple of decades not just as a director and producer but also a make-up man as well as a screenplay writer. He was born in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district near Buchireddipalem. He always wanted to be a part of the film and entertainment industry which is why he started working on it as a make-up artist for various superstar leading ladies of Tamil and Telugu cinema industry. He has been a personal make-up man for the very famous Vijayashanti. When he finally decided to take a chance and produce a film, it was Vijayashanti, who extended her full and unshakable trust and support to him. He made Karthawyam in the year 1990 with the help Vijayashanti, and it turned out to become a critically as well as a commercially hit release. Rathnam became a more confident person when it came to his movies, and he established his production house named Sri Surya Movies which made films both in Telugu and Tamil language. Under his banner, he also made movies like Peddrikam, which was released in the year 1992, Kushi, which came out in the year 2002, among several others. Rathnam isn’t just a successful producer of the film industry but also has written screenplays for many movies among which is Naaga. The film ‘Indian’ which was produced under his banner when on to become a highly successful and remarkable flick and it got itself enlisted among the movies that were sent for Academy Awards under the category of Best Foreign Language Film. Rathnam married and had two children. One of them is Jyoti Krishna, who grew up to become a director and an actor, and the other is Ravi Krishna, who is also an actor. He is an ardent devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba, and he established a temple near his office which is in Valasaravakkam.

A.M. Rathnam is a famous Indian Cinema producer. He is well known for his contribution to Tamil and Telugu movies. He established his own production entity Sri Surya Movies Entertainment. Under this house, he made some blockbuster hits in Telugu Karthavyam a 1990 action and political dramatic film under the direction of Mohan Gandhi. Later it was also dubbed into Tamil with title Vyjayanthi IPS. Vijayashanthi played the lead role in this film and as a Best Actress got the National award for her outstanding performance in this movie.

A.M. Rathnam also gave another super hit movie at box office Peddarikam a film released in 1992 under his own direction starring Sukanya, Jagapathi Babu, and Bhanumathi Ramakrishna. Some of the other famous movies under his production include Sneham Kosam a Telugu film under the direction of K.S. Ravi Kumar starring Chiranjeevi in a dual role. Later the same movie was dubbed into Hindi and Tamil languages also. He also produced Kushi an all-time super hit movie starring Pawan Kalyan.

This movie is one of the best one among the young audience even in the current days also. It was done under the direction of S.J. Surya. In 1996, Mr. Rathnam entered into Tamil film industry and debuted with a famous film Indian under the direction of Shankar starring Urmila Matondkar, Manisha Koirala, and Kamal Haasan in a dual role. It was featured in Academy Awards in 1996, under the category of India as its entity as a Best Foreign Language film. Rathnam born in Nellore district from Andhra Pradesh.

He has two sons one is an actor Ravi Krishna, and another one is an actor and director Jyothi Krishna. Rathnam initiated his career in the film industry as a Makeup man for Vijayashanthi a famous super star in South Indian films. He produced his first film Karthavyam with the same Actress by getting her support. He also financed one of the best films directed by Shankar, and it got the Best Film Award in Tamil Filmfare Awards. His movie Indian also got the Cinema Express Award as a Best Film in the Tamil Language.
