Every year from many decades, many actors, directors and producers are giving their best to the Telugu film industry. While all these artists and movie makers are trying their level best to change and improve the standards, only a few directors and producers are coming forth to make movies for kids. Every movie we watch is almost with adult generation concept forgetting about the importance of educating minors with their pictures.

Akkineni Kutumba Rao is one of the very few people in the industry who strived hard for making films for children. The concepts he used for his films are very inspiring and supporting for the off springs. After publishing few books, he entered Telugu movie field and started his career as a director. In 1991 he made a movie “Badhram Koduko” which was produced by V. Rama Chandra Rao. The motto behind this film is how street juvenile is struggling with so many problems such as child labor, harassments, and abuses that too particularly in cities and developed towns. “Badhram Koduko” had won many awards in film festivals. It won Nandi award for the best children’s movie and also National film award for the best feature film in Telugu. Even though Akkineni Kutumba Rao had made only five movies till date, his each and every film is a gem dedicated to the kids and the problems faced by the low-class families. Akkineni Kutumba Rao’s later films “Thodu” and “Pathanagaramlo pasivadu” were also enlightening movies that received great respect from the critics. For the all his hard work and effort for the film “Pathanagaramlo Pasivadu” Akkineni Kutumba Rao at the Cairo International Film Festival he got the Certificate of Merit. Another film “Thodu” had also brought few state awards to him.

Along working as a movie maker, he also directed few telefilms and serials in Doordharshan of Hyderabad in Telugu. Akkineni Kutumba Rao is also one of those few directors who proved their talent in other language movie industries, and he made a television serial in Hindi with the name “Manayi”. This series was accepted by Hindi viewers and was a super hit there. Akkineni Kutumba Rao’s latest film “Gulabeelu” released in 2005 was called as the best entertainment movie for the kids even it is not a commercial motion picture. He presented the idea of feminism delicately between two young girls and this movie was show at 14th Golden Elephant Film Festival in 2005.
