In 1960, he made the movie Sri Venkateswara Mahatyam starring by N. T. Rama Rao. The story is about Lord Venkateshwara, also known as Balaji. In 1962, he received Merit Certificate for the Best Feature Film for Telugu movie Siri Sampadalu. He also received the Filmfare Awards for the Best Film Award in 1955 for the movie Ardhangi. He married actress P. Santha Kumari in 1937. Pullaiah died in 1985.
