Rao Balasaraswathi Devi is a famous Indian singer and a talented actress who worked mainly in the South Indian Film Industry. The first Playback singer of the Telugu Film Industry, R Balasaraswathi Devi, was born on 28 August 1928 in Venkatgiri, Madras Presidency (Andhra Pradesh). She started learning music in her childhood and gave voice for the first solo gramophone at six for the HMV music company. At the age of 8, she acted and sang for C. Pulliah's films Sati Anasuya and Bhakta Dhruva in 1936. Balasaraswathi Devi got appreciation from a famous director, K. She lived in Mysore and Hyderabad and shifted to Secunderabad with her son post the death of her husband. Subramaniam, and got an opportunity to work with him in Tamil movies.

Raavu Balasaraswathi was a popular Telugu and Tamil film actor in yesteryears. She was born in the year 1928 in Madras Presidency. She survived in the cinema field for thirty years and this is a great record too. Raavu Balasaraswathi is holding the record of the first Telugu female Playback dinger. HMV Company got her voice, at her age of six. She began to act in the cinemas, right from her 6th age. Gradually she got a good place in the cinema industry, by doing varieties of characters. In the year 1943, she sang for Kamala Kotnis, in the film Bhagya Lakshmi.

The film was produced by Chitoor Nagayya. After few years, she minimized her acting and concentrated only on singing. She rendered her sweet voice to many of the yesteryear heroines. She is the lady who sang in almost all the genres. People say that, lullabies in her voice are really awesome to hear. Her sweet voice mesmerized many yesteryear people.
