Nusrat Thakur

Nusrat Thakur is a Pakistani television director and producer. He was the producer of Waris and Dehleez, some of the most successful TV shows. He was born in 1937 in Lahore, Punjab, British India. His father, M.J. Thakur, was a radio personality. He is married and has a son and a daughter. Nusrat Thakur started his career at Radio Pakistani in the 1960’s. Both father and son have acted in TV dramas produced by the Lahore television station set up in November 1964. He learnt TV production from legends, professionals such as Aslam Azhar, Fazal Kamaal, Agha Nasir, Muhammed Nisar Hussain, etc. He worked at the PTV Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta Centers as the programme producer and manager and guided many young men and women as TV programmers. He later retired as the General Manager of PTV, Lahore in the 1990’s. Nusrat Thakur died of Cardiac Arrest on 6th November 2009 at Lahore after a brief illness. He is buried in his ancestral graveyard in Lahore.
