“Sheeliton” is one of the captivating short films, which were screened on the Rio De Janeiro International Film Festival. This movie is helmed by the Brazilian director, Marcelo Marao. Marao visited China in 2011 and it was the time when an animation movie made by him was featured in a Chinese festival. At that festival, he found many habits and attitudes that seemed to be different in the culture. When he came back, his friend insisted that he should turn his experiences into a story. 

This is the story of how the movie emerged. “Sheeliton” is the twelfth movie of Marao and it is also his personal project, as the movie is based upon the emails, which he wrote to his friend. Marao wrote the story, directed it, animated and even he did the voice over for that short film. The personal photographs by Marao were used as the backgrounds in the animation movie. Marao was very surprised by the success of the movie. “Sheeliton” was exhibited in nearly 20 film festivals in Brazil, apart from the Rio festival. It is also invited for two more festivals in Greece. The Rio International Film Festival is the largest yearly event in Brazil, which has invited 250 movies from more than 60 countries.
