‘Lahore 1947’ Eyeing A Republic Day Release

The makers of ‘Lahore 1947’ are out with a release date.

If everything goes right, the film will release during the Republic Day weekend in 2025. The shooting is underway, and it should be wrapped by June 2024.

Not much is known about the plot, except that this would cover the social effects of the Partition of India. Some even say that this film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s play ‘Jine Lahore Nahin Dekhya O Jamya Nai’, though an official confirmation is yet to be made. The play was based on a Muslim family, who migrates to Lahore from Lucknow, and how they form an unlikely bond with an old Hindu lady who originally lived in the haveli, and refuses to leave.
