In a major blow to the multiplex owners, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Tuesday that the government would issue orders to fix the movie tickets at Rs 200 from May. The latest policy embraces films in all languages. From the following month, multiplexes should follow the instructions. The Chief Minister of Karnataka explained that the order would be signed during the latter half of the month.
Reports went abuzz that multiplex owners are unhappy with the development and they are not going to stick to the decision. The Chief Minister answered saying that everyone has to go by the directive. If they do not go by the directive, action will be taken against them. The process of capping the movie ticket prices is observed s a strategy by the government to accumulate support in the state’s urban areas. Anyhow, information department officials said that the proposal is yet to be cleared.
