Krishna Aided Primary School in Kasiraman Street, Kumbakonam caught fire on 16th July 2004. In this fire accident, nearly 94 kids were burnt dead and 18 kids were injured. Every year, the death anniversary is being observed by the parents of those kids. This year they observed the 14th anniversary of the fire accident, today. Candles were lit in front of the kids’ photos and a tribute meeting was held. The parents requested the Tamilnadu government to observe the day as the Children’s Day and also requested to announce it as a holiday to the schools and colleges. The accident happened as the thatched roof caught fire. This is the largest school accident in Tamilnadu. “
