To do social service, age should not be a bar. When the people, who complete 18 years, are eligible to vote, they should be allowed to contest the elections, says Sowmya, a Chennai resident.
Recently, an independent contestant, who filed the nomination to contest RK Nagar election, was rejected stating that he is just 22 and the eligible age to contest the election is 25 years.
Sowmya filed a petition in Supreme Court requesting the court to permit the youngsters, who completed 18 years to contest the election.
When they are aware of choosing their representatives, then they would surely know how to deal with the public issues, says Sowmya.
