Mahinda Rajapaksa, the former President of Sri Lanka, has sworn in as the Prime Minister of the country. Ranil Wickremasinghe was the Prime Minister Of Sri Lanka. Following the withdrawal announcement from the United People's Freedom Alliance, Mahinda was asked to take over the PM seat. He swore in as the PM before the President Maithripala Sirisena. United People's Freedom Alliance’s General Secretary informed that they had expressed their decision through a letter and handed it over to the Speaker. The sudden decision of the UPFA to withdraw their support to the present government comes as a great shock to the people.
