Anil Agarwal, the Sterlite factory owner, stated that he didn’t pressurize anyone to take action against the public, who are protesting against Sterlite. Anil Agarwal stated that they are following the government norms and are not polluting the groundwater and the wastes from the factory are being disposed of in the way that it won’t affect the environment. The copper wastes and the gypsum wastes are used to lay roads, says the Sterlite Owner. He also states that they hadn’t polluted the environment. Anil Agarwal stated that they are ready to support Thoothukudi people. Anil Agarwal also stated that he had requested the Tamilnadu government to ensure the safety of Sterlite employees and the public. When asked about the fine of Rs. 100 crores levied to Sterlite for polluting the environment, Anil Agarwal didn’t say whether he paid it or not; instead, he said that they are following the rules properly and have been doing the genuine business.
