. The movie has smashed records by collecting Rs 24 crore on the day of release. Thus, it smashed the records made by Rajini Starrer Kabali. The movie Mersal starring Vijay encountered innumerous hassles and hit the screens in Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Karnataka and Kerala. Also, the movie hit the screens worldwide. Initially, there was issue regarding the title which the movie encountered. Following that allegations arose that there were assailing dialogues in the movie against the Central and State Government. Since there were birds involved in the movie, there was protest against the movie from the Animal Welfare Organizations. The objectionable scenes were removed and the movie hit the screens day before yesterday.
Since the fans desired to see the first day first show of the movie, there was a huge crowd thronging the theaters. The fans of Vijay raised cutouts and put garlands and celebrated the movie release. Due to the desire among fans, the tickets were sold at a rate of Rs 300 to Rs 1000. The movie was screened in Tamil Nadu across 700 theaters. The movie was screened in theaters situated in the same complex. The movie has smashed the records by Rajini’s Kabali during the first day, and also it smashed the record by Vijay’s previous movie Theri.
