Kaala is an upcoming movie starring Superstar Rajinikanth. The movie is facing an issue as a petitioner has accused the movie maker Pa Ranjith of plagiarism. In an accusation, the petitioner said that the movie title belongs to the Vikram Starrer about Karikalan which has been shelved. At the same time, the Rajinikanth movie is about a don who struggles for Tamil refugees in Mumbai. A petitioner by name Rajasekaran has filed a complaint in the civil court that the movie schedules should be stalled. The petitioner has claimed that the title is his and ban should be imposed again the movie.
In the case, Wunderbar Films which is producing the movie has filed a reply petition. The petitioner had registered the name Karikalan in the Film Federation. He has not renewed the registration and so it has expired We have registered the title in the Film Federation. The case could be filed only in the High Court, said Wunderbar Films. The case came for hearing in the presence of magistrate Ilangovan. The lawyer who presented himself on behalf of the petitioner said that they underwent the due formalities. The case need not be filed in the High Court.
