Following the torrential rain, many of the places in the Chennai city has been surrounded by water. The water level in some of the Kanchipuram lakes is raising. In 112 places in Chennai, people are suffering from the power cut. Due to the heavy rain, the power supply has been stopped and it is just for the safety of the people, informed Satya Gopal, Revenue Administration Commissioner. All the coastal areas including Chennai will have heavy rainfall, announced the Meteorological Center. Velachery recorded 19 cm rainfall and Nungambakkam had 18 cm. The Tamilnadu control room announced that people need not panic over the Chembarambakkam reservoir. The capacity of the reservoir is 24 feet and the current water level is 10 feet and hence the people need not fear about the overflow and flood.
