It was earlier announced that Congress Party’s deputy leader
Rahul Gandhi
would meet the Tamil farmers, who are protesting in
Jantar Mantar
. As scheduled, he met the farmers and sat with them and started protesting. The farmers are protesting for the past three weeks and request the central government to waive off the agricultural loans and to set up a Cauvery tribunal. As the Karnataka Government didn’t share the water to Tamilnadu, the agricultural lands in Tamilnadu had dried up. The farmers couldn’t produce the crops and hence couldn’t pay the loans. Rahul Gandhi said that the Central Government is not at all responding to the Tamilnadu government. He also requested the Narendra Modi's government to fulfill the demands of the farmers and also provide the right amount of drought relief fund to the state.
