” stated that the Tamilnadu government is responsible for the violence and the deaths in Thoothukudi. The Thoothukudi people are protesting against the Sterlite factory that releases harmful substances. For the past 100 days, people in 18 villages are protesting against the factory. They are protesting silently and requesting the TN Government to shut down the factory and save the lives of the people. But, the government doesn’t seem to take any action to shut the factory. Instead, it imposed curfew in Thoothukudi. Today, more than thousand people started protesting and were marching towards the collector office. Stone pelts happened and it turned out to be big violence. Finally, the police chose to fire and nearly ten people were shot dead and many are admitted to the hospital in serious condition, say the reports.
