“R. Sarathkumar,” the former President of the Nadigar Sangam opined that the ticket price might be increased to 53%. Due to the double taxation by the central government and the state government, there is a possibility of a hike in ticket price by 53%, says the actor. Sarath also requests the central and state governments to reduce the GST and entertainment taxes to save the cinema industry that has lakhs of employees.
Like Tamilnadu, the Pondicherry, theater owners have decided to close the theaters indefinitely. Pondicherry Theater Owners’ Association leader Lucky Perumal stated that they have decided to shut the theaters as per the requisition by the TN Theater Owners’ Association.
