Vishal Reddy
, who won the President post in the Producers’ Council election, announced at his swearing-in ceremony that from the ticket price of all the films screened in Tamilnadu, one rupee per ticket would be reserved for the farmers. Although the announcement was appreciated by the producers, actors and the public, it didn’t go well with the Theater Owners’ Association. The Theatre Owners’ Association condemned the statement by Vishal and said that Vishal has no rights to interfere in their business. The Theater Owners’ Association arranged for a Press meet and in the meeting, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur District Theatre Owner Association’s Secretary, P Kannappan told that Vishal is the General Secretary of Nadigar Sangam and the President of the Producers’ Association. He has the limit to take actions regarding the Associations, which he belongs to. Kannappan also stated that Vishal could do a film free for the farmers or the actors could pay the farmers a particular amount from their remuneration. But, he has no right to interfere in our association, said Kannappan. If he doesn’t have any experience, he should consult with the experienced people and Vishal’s this statement seems to be childish, said the Theatre Owners' Association's Secretary. He also stated that the Theater Owners Association is ready to debate in this regard with Vishal.
