While the team is at a short break, Director Atlee explains on bringing such a big star, Vijay in his 2nd venture. "I have known him since Nanban, where I worked as the associate director.
During the shoot, Vijay sir has said that 'Let me know if you have a good script', I have taken it in a serious manner and went back to twice with 'Theri' one liner script when I was directing Raja Rani. He liked it the moment he looked at it and asked me to come back with a full detailed script. This is how Theri happened". He further assures that like his early film, Theri is also written for the family audiences although it is packed with punch lines and mass appealing scenes.
