Thoothukudi Gunfire Cases To Be Heard In Madurai High Court! On 22nd May 2018, thousands of people in Thoothukudi started a procession to give a complaint to the collector to take action against the Sterlite factory. It was the 100th day of their protest. But, they were blocked a kilometer from the collectorate. When the people started raising their voices against the police to allow them to meet the collector, someone pelted the stones and the silent protest turned out to be violent. The cops started gunfire and 11 people were killed. The entire state was shocked on hearing this incident. Cases were filed and compensations were announced. It was requested that the cases should be handled by the CBI. These cases will be inquired at Madurai High Court tomorrow. Nearly eight cases will be heard at the Madras High Court’s Madurai Bench, tomorrow.
