Following a not-so-great stint at the box office, Santhanam’s dramedy ‘Vadakkupatti Ramasamy’ has now got an OTT platform. This film is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

, etc. in the main roles. The basic plot revolves around a money-minded opportunist, who is a self-professed atheist, but uses his tricks to dupe villagers and make a living for himself. However, when his main source of income, i.e. the temple is closed down, Ramasamy attempts the impossible: reopening the temple!
The film was released on 2 February, to mixed reviews. Despite the best of efforts, ‘Vadakkupatti Ramasamy’ was not very successful at the box office. However, it was one of the very films that managed to at least recover its basic costs, unlike most of the Tamil movies, that were complete washouts, including the much talked about ‘Lal Salaam’, which starred Rajinikanth in an extended cameo. Made on a budget of approximately 90 crores, the movie did not even manage even half of the budget through the overall collections.
