, who started the new genre to Indian cinema, the women-centric movies, had been in Chennai for a silk expo launch. Vidya says that she feels at home when she visits the capital city of Tamilnadu. Vidya’s paternal aunt lived here in Chennai and Vidya had visited the city a lot of times, when her aunt was here. Although Vidya is a Bollywood actress, she says that she used to speak Tamil at home, when she stayed with her parents. She says that she is a Palakkad Iyer and hence follows both Tamil and Malayalam culture. Vidya says that she celebrates both Pongal and Onam. Vidya says that she is really happy for not doing Tamil films in the initial stage of her career. She is satisfied much with her career, now. When asked about her intro to Tamil cinema, Vidya says that if she gets a meaty role, she would definitely do. She openly says that she doesn’t watch Tamil films, but tracks the happenings in Tamil film industry.
