Lyricist Snehan has commented that the unhealthy trend of writing songs without proficiency in language has increased. The schedules for the movie Ethirkol are being carried out in Sirkali, which is situated in Nagapattinam district.
The movie’s hero Snehan gave an interview to reporters: I have so far written 2, 500 songs in Tamil. I have done the role of hero in about seven movies. If you ask me to choose between writing lyrics and acting in movies, I would say I prefer writing lyrics. When I am writing lyrics, I am the master. I would have the freedom to choose words sticking to the movie’s story. But, when I am acting, I would have to abide by the director. New lyricists are penning lyrics for movies.
Many among these new lyricists lack proficiency in the Tamil language. Many people lack proficiency in Tamil literature. But still, they are writing lyrics. This is a cause for worry, said Snehan.
