Plot

The film’s story begins in the backdrop of war-torn Afghanistan, where a man named Donovan is trying to escape without paying the mercenaries he hired as his security force. His security team ambushes him and coerces him to tell them the location of one of the banks where he has kept millions of dollars earned as profits from the war. Back in the U.S.A., the film shows a high-school Kenny, played by Michael Rainey Jr., being sent to the Principal’s office for his conduct and as punishment is ordered to do a “ride along” in a police patrol car. The policemen he is assigned to ride along with are Mike Chandler, played by Nicholas Cage, a man mourning the loss of his wife, and Mike’s son-in-law Steve. The bank that the mercenaries plan to rob fatefully falls in the patrol area of Mike and Steve. The story follows how Mike, Steve, and Kenny face the armed robbers.

Star Performance

The acting skills of the star-cast are weak and disappointing. Nicholas Cage’s character could have been better, but apart from a few stunts and some cool shots, he doesn’t say or do much.

Analysis

The storyline is rickety with nothing impactful. The acting is disappointing. The studio set-up and graphics are outdated.

Verdict

“211” is a film with a plethora of flaws. No character shines through. The action sequences and the plotline are disappointing. The film might be a good fit for action lovers or Nicholas Cage’s fans.
