The movie draws inspiration from Susan Burke’s personal experience as alcoholic. She had been longing to bring out the narrative in a moving manner. Both of the screenplay artists developed the script. It took them six months to complete the script. The movie won critical acclaim.

Actress Winstead’s role in the movie is commendable. She won the nomination for awards for her role in the movie. The plot revolves around Kate and Charlie, who are husband and wife. They share mutual interests like music, humor, and boozing. But, due to alcoholism, Kate goes astray into the murky side of the life. She seeks help from Alcoholics Anonymous. But then she realizes that sobriety is a difficult end to achieve. There are issues in personal life with Charlie. It troubles Kate very much. Also, her professional life goes haywire.

Winstead and Paul just do not know how to manage their lives because of alcoholism. Kate’s binge drinking lands her in moments of utter embarrassment. Kate wants to achieve her way to sobriety. The movie is about how Alcoholics Anonymous helps her achieve her way back to sobriety. But, the dilemma that Kate undergoes is realistic, and actress Mary Winstead’s delivery is commendable.

Her greatest challenges are her alcoholic husband and mom. The movie is too short for words and is thoroughly schematic. The movie brings before our eyes an alcoholic’s pain while on the way to sobriety. The movie is worthwhile and would have a hangover on audiences.
