Plot: Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is a retired Black Ops operative who lives peacefully in Boston Massachusetts. But he does not think of retiring completely and takes up a job at a hardware store; he befriends many co-workers there and then he goes on to help a security guard trainee to pass his qualifying examinations. It is revealed that McCall had a wife who is now deceased and the fact that he promised her that he would leave his old life way behind. Sleepless and frustrated over his life, he spends his time reading in a 24/7 diner where he befriends Alina(Chloe Grace Mortez) who is revealedto be a teenage prostitute for a Mafia. One night she is brutally beaten by her dealer and she is immediately hospitalized.

McCall after hearing of what happened to her makes a deal with the Russian mob and offers a sum of 9,800 dollars in exchange for her freedom but receives a negative answer. This proves fatal for the mob as he single-handedly kills them all as he is trained for such things. The kingpin Vladimir Pushkin learns of this incident and sends his enforcer Teddy to finish off the culprit. Meanwhile, McCall finishes off a corrupt Police Officer who had set fire to the house of the security guard trainee he had earlier helped.

Teddy recognizes McCall to be the culprit as he witnesses his brilliant skills. Meanwhile, McCall goes on with his vigilante work and solves more social issue through his brilliant skill set. The rest of the story is about how McCall finishes off Teddy and in turn the main boss and returns home where he has happily reunited with Alina and has started social work with a name called “Equalizer” and the movie concludes with McCall answering to one request for help.

Analysis: This is “the” action movie that many action fans would relate to. Perfect story, thrilling action and a satisfying conclusion, probably the good old action movies have come again in the form of Equalizer, the best part is that story does not relies completely on story nor on action but walks with both of them in balance and in full control which eventually brightens the plot. Screenplay is really an “Equalizer” with the performances from Denzel and Chloe Grace.

Star Performances: Denzel Washington has done some really cool roles earlier too and probably this too can be counted amongst them. He brilliantly portrays a Black Op commando who has not forgotten his skills and uses them when the time comes. Chloe Grace is a useful addition to this movie which gives it an emotional edge.

What's there?

• Fantastic plot.

• Fine screenplay.

• Outstanding performances from Denzel and Chloe.

What's Not there?

• Sometimes the movie becomes too fast to handle.

Verdict: Never mind the one in the review and just watch this movie already as this not those movies which should be missed.
