The Last Exorcism Movie Review

A movie in which the protagonist exposes the fake person of his ministry. This movie is directed by Daniel Stamm.

PLOT: 

Patrick Fabian gets a request to cure Louis Herthum's daughter Ashley Bell. Fabian concludes that the spirit of Abalan possessed Bell. He also comes to know that Bell is pregnant, and she is with sexual interest. Bell confesses that Logan Craig Reid was responsible for her pregnancy. But Logan also confesses that he is a gay. On further investigation, it is revealed that Tony Bentley was behind all this commotion. Will he be punished?

ANALYSIS: 

The director makes sure of avoiding any vestiges of artificiality. The dialogues are so natural and sound to be genuine. The voice is also authentic and forces us to get more glued to the movie. The visuals gave us the perfect Southern Gothic feel. The runway of the house creates a feel of angst among us. The quantity of gore seems to be less, but the image of the violence used is memorable. The documentary genre of the movie proves to be very realistic. This movie does not rely more on the score to create the scare. But the score that is in the movie did not sound to be scary. 

STAR PERFORMANCES: 

Fabian is a preacher with a friendly touch. Fabian is charming with a good clarity; that is rare in supernatural movies. Bell expresses a soft character for some time and then goes on a rampage. She is engaging, and her changes in her expression are convincing. The way she switches to a whole new character makes a good impression. Louis is merely a filler. 

WHAT'S THERE?

Many of the movies miss the factor of reality, the core of the story, and the quality of acting. But this movie possesses all three factors together. This is a big surprise to most of the people. 

WHAT'S NOT THERE?

The dubbing for a few of the characters is weak. The director's choice for some aesthetic effects for the voice of ghost is ineffective.
 

VERDICT:

An organic movie with a decent number of genuine scares, and memorable horror.
