There have been a plethora of animated films of late, and Disney's Zootopia is one such film. But you have got to read the review to know how Zootopia is different from other animated films.

Plot

Zootopia is basically a crime story. Judy Hopps, the rabbit, right from her childhood, has a knack for dealing with conflicts, even if it is with a fox. She has a lot of belief in her caliber, even though she is a “small” creature compared to the lions and rhinos. And this rustic girl heads all the way to the urban area, and enrolls herself in the Police Academy. Later she has to brave the odds, given that she has to outwit her big foes. But surely she wants to be heralded as the topnotch cop!

Fourteen animals suddenly go absent in Zootopia (a urban jungle) and the protagonist, Judy Hopps, manage to identify one of the missing animals. She has the help of Nick Wilde, a cynic fox of forty plus, for handling this case. But poor little girl! She ends up landing in a conniving plot. Is the plot too difficult to handle for her? Analysis

The movie has drawn inspiration from Chinatown and has similarities with some other movies too. But what makes this film work is the meticulousness of the directors Byron Howard Born on 26th December in 1968 in Misawa, Japan, By >> Read More... and Rich Moore American film and TV animation director Rich Moore >> Read More... , and Jared Bush, the assistant director. The way in which they have shown animals that do their bit of ‘human’ acts is something really commendable. Also, the movie talks about the cruelty of police and prejudice in a convincing manner.

What’s there?

There is an appealing originality in the etching of the characters.
Well, the movie has a beautiful, timely message, and it’s nice to get a message from an animated film.
The screenplay is astute.
A child, who is new to detective stories, will surely find Zootopia appealing.
The character of Hopps is etched well.
You never feel that the movie is preachy.
Even if the movie was not made in 3d it would appeal to everyone.
The music of Michael Giacchino Michael Giacchino is a music composer from America >> Read More... is quite optimistic.
The film has its share of spectacular moments including the chase sequence.
