A historical approach for a modern revolution? “Ab Hoga Dharna Unlimited” determines the possibility of the above question through its far-reaching effects and the struggles of turning it into reality.

PLOT:

The story revolves around the efforts of the opposition leader of the ‘Avsarvadi Party’ named ‘ Gopinath Gopinath Chandran popularly called as Gopinath is >> Read More... ’, along with joint efforts from Baba Lakshman Dev, who are trying to revolt against the current government and doing dharnas for proving their point, and eventually bringing the government down. The basic storyline being the organization of dharna’s as seen in the famous freedom struggle to fight injustice. It obviously boasts a lot of political drama, encompassing a myriad of characters, which are more weird than funny. In the bid of bringing the government down, Gopinath and Baba are joined by Satya, a rural character, along with others. A series of dramatic events take place, which leads to chaos like the sequence in the Maidan, disagreeing with the Ramleela team and revealing of a love story. The film does establish a point, but like most films of this genre, no concrete conclusion is drawn.

ANALYSIS:

As simple as the story sounds, the detailing in the movie is ludicrous. Though it may seem like a serious drama, it’s a satire. And though satire sounds like a fun way of making the parody of the political situations, this satire hardly stands by its definition. The moments that are supposed to make you laugh, certainly don’t, and the fact that they were deemed to be funny is hilarious in itself.

Directed by Deepak Tanwar Deepak Tanwar is an Indian film director and produ >> Read More... , the film features a slew of mostly veteran and T.V serial actors. Though the actors are known, they aren’t known enough to carry a film entirely on their shoulders. All the actors have done justice to their part, but due to their characters being half baked, it doesn’t come out as smoothly onscreen.

Films like these belong to their unique genre, and thus, its an experiment that puts forward certain issues, which might create awareness

The issues put forward are not communicated in a way that is clear enough to be understood, nor subtle enough to not be misunderstood. The film also has a supposed-to-be-funny kind of vibe, which doesn’t quite go down with the audience.

VERDICT:

This film touches many subjects but just on the surface, and only a selective class of audience may enjoy it.
