Arshad Warsi Arshad Warsi is most popular for his role as Circu >> Read More... ’s debut film as a writer and producer, Hum Tum Aur Ghost is an unofficial remake of Ghost Town and is also inspired a little by The Sixth Sense.

PLOT

Life seems to be going well for fashion photographer Armaan (Arshad Warsi) and his high-profile Editor girlfriend Gehna ( Dia Mirza Dia Mirza’s original name is Dia Handrich. Dia Mir >> Read More... ). But not everything can remain good for a long time, even though life seems beautiful, it has it’s own bumps in the road.

Gehna is a high maintenance girlfriend, and Armaan works for the same magazine for which Gehna is the Editor, and Armaan suffer from chronic insomnia. Soon he realizes that it’s not just a sleeping disorder that he is suffering from, he can hear voices, voices that nobody else can hear.

These voices are unpleasant and keep disturbing and torturing him. He can see people who couldn’t be seen by anyone else. Although his friends sympathized with his problem, his girlfriend whom he needed the most was not all understanding and supportive. Gehna starts doubting Armaan’s mental health backed by her father’s hatred for Armaan’s addiction to alcohol.

Armaan is miffed initially but realizing the kind of power he has, he sets out on a mission to help out three ghosts – a child, an old man, and a young woman. Will Armaan be successful in helping out the ghosts and at the same time continue his life without losing his girlfriend? Watch the movie to find out!

Analysis

The movie fails to define itself and the point that it wants to make. Neither is justifies itself as a comedy film nor as a love story nor as a supernatural drama. There is a desperate effort to satisfy all points and make the movie a package, but it hardly satisfies any.

The ghost stories are abrupt and sometimes questioned as to why they are even there? The only good track seems to be the Boman-Arshad track, but it’s short lived. With high expectations with the Kabeer-Arshad duo’s good performance in Seher, Hum Tum Aur Ghost disappoints us.

Star Performances

The Boman-Arshad track is quite an enjoyable one. They live up to their onscreen chemistry as they have worked in some films before. They provide a comic kick to the film, and their wit is one thing to be liked in the film. Dia Mirza too has some good moments, but Sandhya Mridul Sandhya Mridul is once again one of the popular fa >> Read More... is seen as not well utilized.

What’s There?

The crackling Boman-Arshad chemistry.

Dia Mirza's serene beauty and elegance.

A little moving emotional drama in the human and ghost connections

What’s not there?

The music track is disappointing despite the amazing trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy working on it.

A definite aim of the film that it satisfies.

A plot that doesn’t grab a viewer to it’s seat.

Verdict

If you have nothing to do and want to pass your time for a little fun, watch it. Also, watch it if you love Arshad’s and Boman’s comic timing because that is definitely on point.
