The film was produced by Abbas Mustan and Hussain Burmawala. The film released on 14th August 2009 by the Burmawala Partners and the Viacom 18 Motion Pictures all over the country. The total making budget of the picture was Rs. 140 million. It just earned twice the amount of making reaching up to Rupees 270 million.

Plot: Fardeen Khan as Karan and Tusshar Kapoor as Bhavesh are best friends living in Capetown, South Africa. Govinda playing the role of Jeet, a divorce lawyer, flirts with every girl he meets. He is against the norms and notions of marriage, and he tries to encourage other married women to divorce their husbands. Fardeen Khan has an over pampered wife named Sanjana. Sanjana is a childish girl who changes her profession now and then. She has tried every work and ended up awfully. Karan gets frustrated by her childish acts, but it is the same thing he likes about her the most. Sanjana's father (role played by AnupamKher) supports her in all her efforts and works. He always tries to make her happy.

Bhavesh is a Gujarati boy who wishes to have an arranged marriage. His father is a strict autocratic and patriotic follower of the Indian principles in a foreign country. Bhavesh maintains a diary for himself and notes all the beautiful things he wanted to do with his wife. His father disappointed with Bhavesh takes him back to India where he meets lots of girls of his caste. He then meets the daughter of Vijay Singh, Prachi (role played by Prachi Desai), and fell in love with her. He confesses his love for her and asks her to marry him. She agrees by admiring his innocence and his principles of being a one woman man, and knowing about his diary. The story skips a few months. The couple was on the verge of divorce.

Things between both the couple began to go downhill when Karan wanted stability in his relationship, and Sanjana was messing everything she tries to do. One day she tries to do household chores and blew up their apartment trying to work with the washing machine. Karan shouts on her, and she leaves him. On the other hand, the conservative thinking of Bhavesh's father made the life of Prachi hard. She cannot work outside the home and have to abide by the rules at home. She without any permission applies for a job interview which ultimately resulted in a fight.

Bhavesh taking his father's side slaps her in annoyance. Prachi's father takes her back, and she divorces Bhavesh. Jeet despite being a divorce lawyer solves the problem of the couple and being them back together. He then himself marries the girl he loves.

Star performances: The star cast of the movie was apt as per the script of the movie. The presence of Govinda in the movie was like a cherry on the cake. The critics appreciated his role and dialogue delivery. His comic timings and punches gained claps from the audience as well the critics. The acting of Tusshar Kapoor and Fardeen Khan was also praiseworthy. The actress did justice to their roles.

Verdict: It was an average movie at the box office. But Life Partner gained positive response from the audience for its comedy and romantic script. The movie, however, did not gain many appraisals from the critics. Overall the film was average rated.
