Plot

The film narrates about the gangs in Andhra Pradesh, which involves a lot of politics in them. The film starts with Narasimha Reddy Narasimha Reddy is a Telugu TV actor. He has been >> Read More... , who is an established leader in Anantpur district. He gives Veera Bhadra a chance to compete in the upcoming elections also because he is an ally of Narasimha Reddy. Veera Bhadra wins many hearts in the district and is on route to being the next minister. Nagamuni Reddy, also an MLA, is jealous of Veera’s success. He starts to poison Narasimha’s and Veera’s relationship which eventually leads to a breakup. Nagamuni is supported by Narsimha in the election. Behind his back, Nagamuni plans to kill Veera. Manda, a close ally of Veera is bribed to kill Veera. Manda kills Veera by crushing his skull while he is on his way to a wedding. Here is when Shankar and Bukka Reddy come into the picture.

Shankar wants to take revenge of his father’s death by killing Bukka Reddy, son of Nagamuni Reddy. Bukka Reddy is known for his brutal acts. Shankar is killed in a fake encounter by the local on instructions from Nagamuni. Police do not file any inquiry because of Bukka Reddy, which forces Pratap to take the matter in his hands. He is on a rampage, killing all the men from the Reddy’s gang. Pratap kills Narasimha in his house and chops Manda’s hands when he is out in the market. The heavy security at Nagamuni’s house does not allow Pratap to kill him. Pratap and his men enter his house dressed as policemen and shoot Nagamuni to death.

Bukka Reddy is furious at his father’s death. Bukka Reddy want his brother Puru to contest the elections as he plans to kill Pratap Ravi. Shivaji Rao, another politician, wants to contest in Anantapur but is scared away by Bukka Reddy. Shivaji reaches Pratap for help. Pratap realizes the opportunity to eliminate the Reddy’s from Anantpur. He slowly kills each and everyone and comes to power in Anantapur. Bukka Reddy is arrested and then released on bail. Pratap finds it is the right time to kill Bukka. He calls in Babu Qadri, a local, who sister was raped by Bukka Reddy. Pratap and his men invade Bukka’s hideout and Qadri shoot him and continuously illtreat him with axe. With this the first part comes to an end, Pratap is in full power, and nobody dares to challenge him.

Vivek Oberoi is Pratap Ravi around whom the story revolves. He does an outstanding performance so much so that he lives the role. Analysis

The film portrays the life of politicians who can go to any extend for power and revenge. It is a crime film based on the lives of Paritala Ravindra and Maddelachervu Suri, The two who fought against each other for power and jealousy. The film also features the life of Obul Reddy, who was known to be a brutal killer. The first part of Rakta Charitra was released on 22nd October 2010. Ram Gopal Verma’s effort to bring a story like this on the big screen is very much visible.

The movie is paced in such a way that it doesn’t give you time to contemplate on how it progresses. In this regard, an item number could have been avoided. The movie commenecs with a voice-over and this is maintained through the film.

What’s there?

The signature style of Ram Gopal Verma, which were seen in movies like Sarkar, is shown with its usual intensity.
Jayesh Dhakkan’s sound design is not compromising.

Verdict

You will be blown away by Rakta Charitra-I. Vivek Oberoi has reached another level with his acting. However, it is sincerely advised that only 18 above watch this film as there are some really disturbing scenes.
