To the horror of many, Himesh Reshammiya Intro: Himesh Reshammiya got his stardom after win >> Read More... returns to acting with The Xpose Click to look into! >> Read More... ’. This time, there’s not one but avengers of bad actors (barring Irrfan). Set in the 60s, this “suspense thriller” can either be just bad, or it can be so-bad-that-it’s-good. Some relief that it was the latter!

Plot:

With a mysterious murder of a rising star (Zara, played by Sonali Raut) at its crux, the film revolves around the glamorous era of the 60s. Drawing various parallels with the real life events at that time, the film wants to show the cruel, competitive, egoistic nature of the film industry at that time.

We meet all the suspects- from Ravi Kumar Ravi Kumar is an Indian Photographer best known fo >> Read More... (HimeshReshammiya) who starred opposite Zara in her debut film. There’s Chandini (Zoya Afroz) who’s debut film had clashed with that of Zara and hence created a tension between the two. There’s also KD ( YoYo Honey Singh), a music director and his wife Shabnam (Jesse Randhava). At the night of an awards party, Zara is found dead, and we go along finding the main culprit.

Analysis:

The plot can still be termed as an average, but the screenplay is horrendous! There are glaring plot holes, stupid characterizations and unintentionally hilarious punchlines thrown all over the movie. It is no wonder that it is these people (again, barring Irrfan. Really, why did you do this!?) who signed for such a film.

Star Performances:

Every cast member was exceptional in their roles, if only the film was sold to us as a comedy and not as a drama thriller. You normally rely on the actors to make up for the lazy writing, but alas! The performance sinks the film even deeper.

What’s there?

1. One thing that was reasonably consistent here was the production values. Though an utter lack of originality was shown here too (the party set-up was completely lifted from The Great Gatsby Click to look into! >> Read More... ) but, at least, they pulled it off well.

2. With Himesh and YoYo involved, a decent soundtrack is expected. “Ice Cream Khaaungi” is cheesy and silly, but very catchy and groovy at the same time. A pleasant surprise is “Sheeshe ka Samundar” helmed nicely by Ankit Tiwari Ankit Tiwari was born on March 6, 1986 in Kanpur, >> Read More... . If only these singers stayed in their profession!

What’s not there?

1. Practically anything that’s required for a film- plot, acting, direction, and the list goes on.

Verdict:

This can make up for a hilarious matinee film, but it’s not worth pending hundreds of buck in the cinema halls.
