Well, after a considerable gap of time a remake horror film has come to give terror to the Kannada fans.
Remaking a hit film in another language is not as easy as one thinks to be. Proper care should be taken to see that it does justice to the original one. Also, it should not be incoherent. Here then, Rakshashi is the remake of the Tamil blockbuster Pisaasu, which was directed by Mysskin. In this film, which is a frame-by-frame copy of Pisasu, even the names of the actor’s characters are retained. Well, the film may be a scene-by-scene copy but what matters is the execution.
Well, the Tamil blockbuster Pisasu did wonders at the box office. M U Ashraf who had earlier assisted director A R Murugadoss has helmed the direction of Rakshashi. Has Rakshashi lived up to the expectations?
Plot
A man tries to save a woman from an accident but unfortunately she dies. The girl eventually turns into a ghost, and she haunts the guy. What is it that she actually wants from the crux of the story.
Star Performances
Navarasan (producer turned actor), could have shown better acting as the man who is trying to help the ghost. However, his performance is average.
Sindhu Lokanath

, in her limited space, does what is required of her. G K Reddy steals the show with his excellent performance. Kempa Gowda and Kuri Pratap’s performances are ok.
What’s there?

2. The cinematography of Mohan is excellent.
What’s not there?
The film fails in the execution part, which is very important. The spine-chilling effect could have been much better.

People who prefer horror movies can give Rakshasi a try.
