The movie is the worst cinematic hangover you could see in these times. For days, the scenes will cling on to your brain, making you revisit what the protagonist went through. It dives right through the trench of evil social customs subjected to women. This movie is a cinematic gem to be preserved and shown to all.

Plot: Shahina, is a 14-year-old Muslim girl, preparing for her class X examinations when some local community chiefs and her relatives force her into a marriage. The groom, Razak, is already a father of a child. Shahina is made to give in despite her protests. She does not join him in the matrimonial bed despite Razak's several attempts. Ultimately, Razak drugs her and rapes her. She responds violently after waking up and is divorced by him on grounds of being mentally sick.

Though divorce comes as a relief to her, Razak quickly resumes his journey to the Gulf. She returns home, and while giving her exam collapses. She is later found to be pregnant. She is accused of adultery as her husband claims to have never touched her. Thus began a series of dark nights for her and her unborn baby. Will she survive the societal pressure? Will the baby be born? For this information and the heart-breaking ending, watch this movie. You'll realize what some films capture in themselves.

Analysis: The film is a cinematic marvel. It discusses the life of child mothers who are often left to fend for themselves after being disowned by the family. It also shows the social problem of crime against women in the name of religion and age. Also, it aims at promoting education for women. The movie is brilliant and stunning; it makes you shudder at the thoughts of a young girl who despite her brawny protests could not break the shackles put on her by the society. She protests vehemently but ultimately it is the culture who wins.

It makes you compare how being born into a different family would have helped thousands of people. How education would have helped lakhs of people. And a changed mindset and liberal views would have changed the humanity. The scenes make you weep, feel sorry and a sense of helplessness engulfs you when you get out of the theater. It doesn't leave you for a few days.

Star Performances: Meera Jasmine Born on 15th February 1982, Meera Jasmine belongs >> Read More... proves she is a marvelous actor. The way she adapts to the character and brings it alive on the screen is a joy. You laugh at her and commend her aim to study and enroll in a college someday. But you also get your heart broken along hers, when you get to know of the impending doom approaching in her little life. Such is her acting prowess. She stands as the poster girl, for saving women from the atrocities committed against them in the name of anything. Meera Jasmine shows what people who win awards are made up of, and how the characters they play are transformed into what icons they become later.
