8 Thottakkal is yet another film directed by a young film maker. The movie, which is helmed by Sriganesh (who was assisting Mysskin earlier) has hit the screens today. Now let’s see how the movie has turned out to be.

Plot

The hero of the flick Vetri goes to jail in his childhood itself for a mistake that he has not committed. He has been admitted in a school for juvenile delinquents. A guard in the school understands him and comes forward to help him. He persuades him to become a police officer. Though Vetri is not interested in the profession be becomes a cop due to the forcing of the guard. He also does his work sincerely. The other people in the station don’t like his sincerity. Hence they plan to get rid of him from the station. In the meantime, Vetri loses his gun to a pickpocket. What happens next? Watch the movie to know.

Star Performances

Debutante Vetri is mostly seen with a sad face in the film. He excels in his role of a cop. Aparna who appears as a television reporter has done a commendable job and has a homely appearance. M S Bhaskar also steals the show through his meaty role. Nasser, who is a seen in many films nowadays, has done a convincing performance as always. The rest of the cast also ably support.

Analysis

Young director Sri Ganesh Sri Ganesh is a film scriptwriter as well as a dir >> Read More... has executed the film in a matured manner. The movie which is of the genre crime thriller is interspersed with sentiments and romance too. The director has ably honed the acting prowess of the actors. The handling of the director is similar to Myskkin’s style of directing in some ways.

What’s there?

• The screenplay is par excellence.

• Dinesh K Babu’s cinematography is good.

• The music of Sundaramoorthy is commendable.

What’s not there?

Editing of the film could have been given more concentration. There are some unnecessary scenes which hinders the progress of the movie.

Verdict

This can be considered as a good debut attempt by director Sriganesh.
